Loads of hoverflies. I counted them all out and I counted them all back in. Well only four in fact. But I thought they might look more sinister as a formation so I montaged them.
No reason to make them look more sinister. That is completely irrelevant.
I don't think they really have such asymmetric wing strokes - more the result of using a focal plane shutter.
There are about 30 shots here. Hover flies offer a surprisingly good hit rate with the old bee framer.
