Life after a near death experience!!
A slow day after yesterdays wedding. Quite late this evening before even looking for something to blip. Too tired to go beyond the garden i was taking some fairly unsuccessful shots of some plants. I became aware of some rustling under some bushes so decided to investigate. This young thrush was busy with its mum looking for supper. I know this isn't the best shot ever taken of a wild bird, but 2 weeks ago when this chick had just fledged, it found itself being carried about in my dog's mouth (look at Mel T's blips of Mylo!!). Much coaxing and bribery later, i persuaded him to put the chick down and it lay immobile on the grass. Fearing the worst (i love thrushes) i picked the chick up. It looked bad. Once it realised i wasn't the monster about to finish off the job, it flapped it's wings and fluttered under a bush. Knowing Mylo would now be hunting, I scooped the chick up and gently lowered him into next doors garden, free of dogs but close enough for his mum to be able to see him. Keeping a check on his progress, it delights me to be able to blip him tonight. Just goes to show you should never give up, no matter how bleak the outlook is!!
