Our Jules

This is a picture of our current Australian Prime Minister, Ms Julia Gillard, captured from the TV during the debate between the party leaders running in the election for Prime Ministerial seat. I also took a photo of the opposition leader, Mr Tony Abbott, and uncanningly he also has his eyes closed! Is this a statememt about the awareness of our party leaders, and future Prime Minister?

Julia Gillard became Prime Minister at the end of June, after ousting Kevin Rudd, her boss, from the big seat. Poor Kev didn't even get to finish a full term before his party ganged up and pushed him out of the sandbox.

Julia Gillard is Australia's first female Prime Minister, and looks like she will end up actually being elected by the Australian people to hold that position if all goes to plan. It still cracks me up that us Australians refer to our Prime Minister as a 'ranga' due to her red hair, and that she is unmarried, childless, and a self-confirmed atheist. I believe it has confused, amazed, and shocked quite a few people around the world that aren't used to the Aussie jovial ways. You go Jules!
