An oasis.

This little patch of colour brightens up the whole site of Byker Wall.
Byker Wall was built between1969 and 1982 to replace huge streets of terraced housing. It was phased in to keep a sense of community alive, and is home for 9,500 people. It varies from 3 to 12 stories in height and is painted in parts in bright colours. The outer wall protects the rest of the development from wind, and traffic pollution.Cars are left at the edges of the estate, and the inside of the wall is landscaped. It became grade two listed in 2007.
This blip is part of the outside wall, and someone has filled a little balcony with flowers and wind chimes. It stands out as you travel along the road.
