tracks of life

you know what that plane means...

i'm out of china, and back in thailand! thank goodness (and no disrepect to the chinese) but that job was definitely getting the better of me.

quite a routing to get back here as well by the way. departed from the chaos that is yibin airport (colleague and i chatted with two turkish buyers who were also in the area) for shanghai. grabbed a taxi to a 'nearby' hotel that only took our derelict driver and hour to find (though he insisted he knew the locale). posted up in the hotel for the night - shared room with colleague (double beds folks) as i was only going to see three hours of sleep. on the shuttle back to the airport early, then shanghai to bangkok. here's where it gets pretty.

since i had a 'round the world' ticket, one of the rules is that one cannot stop in the same city twice. as i had been to bangkok earlier on this itinerary, i had to wait for a connecting flight to chiang mai, clear immigration in chiang mai, and then immediately re-check at the domestic desk to fly back down to bangkok.

this photo was taken at the first arrival to suvarnabhumi today - enjoyed the vintage plane design that thai has used on this jet to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
