Robbie's Roots

Female Common Darter

Up until June this year I had only rarely seen Dragon & Damselflies (let alone photograph them). Since starting my Journal on Blipfoto I see them everywhere, this is simply due to the act of going out to find something to Blip. Another thing about Dragonflies in particular is that a particular species will appear in a location and then just as quickly disappear again. This is a female Sympetrum striolatum - a Common Darter, I haven't seen one before, it is quite a bit smaller than other Dragonflies I have Blipped but bigger and chunkier than a Damselfly. It was at Roxton where the Broad-bodied Chasers were common up until 2 weeks ago but now seem to have disappeared completely.
