Van-ished

I had a whole different idea of what I was going to blip today and then on my way into work this morning, noticed this pair of Vans on a traffic island. I'm used to seeing one shoe/trainer abandoned, but I'm intrigued by these being a complete pair of what looked like fairly new trainers.
How did they get there? Who did they belong to? Were they thrown from a vehicle? Very odd.

I hope whoever had been wearing them is ok....

As I was putting the camera away, a couple walked past I heard the woman say "... but why take a photo?" She has a point I suppose.
