Why Be Serious?

Subway jaunt

Well today was supposed to be a family trip to town and whatever entertainment was provided free of charge... but that was not the way it turned out. Firstly, just minutes before we were due to run for the bus it started to rain - not much but enough for the kids to start that hated whine, "I don't want a coat on!". So it was up to me to save the day with a rush to the local shops for nibbles, a DVD and a bit of grocery shopping.

The 2 mile round trip allowed me time to do some dreaming/thinking. Well, recently I've been looking around for some kind of inspiration for a bit of artwork I'm wanting to start. Originally my ideas floated around something along the lines of contemporary steampunk, perhaps with a bit of apocalypse thrown in for good measure - but while on my journey I was thinking at how cool it would look if for some reason Newcastle was laid to waste... Road signs showing destinations unknown to those around, wasteland along the Tyne instead of revitalised clubs and bars, the bridges lying in the river Tyne rather than across... The list is nigh on endless. This blip was the main influence with it's rather weathered appearance.
