Meet Mel, our shop manager, today she demonstrated one of the many uses of a candle snuffer.
I do bellieve Madonna wore something similar to this in her very early days, only not over her nose!
Thursday afternoon is my moment in our local Pocklington shop, I always look forward to going in to help sort out the many and varied donations, there's always a lot of noise from the back room....mainly shrieks of laughter, the occassional WOW and sadly quite a few OMG's as we open a bag of dirty, smelly crud.
People, it seems, have very different ideas as to what is and is not needed.
I understand that some still believe that only poor people use charity shops and therefore would be grateful of anything, so give ripped, dirty, shrunk, you name it, it comes in........dirty socks and underwear too!!
The other end of the scale is the people who would never walk through the door of a charity shop so don't understand that other people would buy their cast-off's that have been worn only a few times.
The middle ground is fortunately the largest group and we do get a huge amount of very good quality gifts that we are extremely thankfull for. Today for example, a Lloyd loom basket chair -retro- came in, the owner had thought of taking it to the tip, her mother said to bring it to us........it is in the window with £49.99 on it, perfect original condition.
So please, before you through your *rubbish* out, think like a womble and wonder if anyone could "make good use of the things that the everyday folk leave behind"

I think my Thursday blips will be Oxfam based from now on.
