Dance
Took the children to see the local youth dance company performing in some local woods.
The theme was the greek myth of Apollo and Daphne (i'm typing that like I'd heard of it..) and metamorphis and other stuff like that. You know the sort of thing.
It was a moving thing, the audience were led through the woods and stuff happened around them.
They had worked so hard on it and I liked what I did see. The only difficulty was that there was a bigger audience than perhaps expected so those of us sometimes at the back missed stuff. Not to mention a mobility scooter trying to get about the narrow woodland paths and somebody's tiny dog that kept getting trodden on
Evie loved what she did see. Alfie was not so impressed and kept tutting and sighing and asking me quietly when it would be over. He talked constantly about time. 'half an hour? Oh well, that's not so long is it? Not when you think about. Especially if you think about it for half an hour! haha!' etc
At the end, Alfie's exasperation got the better of him, and at the deeply quiet profound ending, he didn't quite whisper 'this is ridiculous'!
The adults around him sniggered but I wanted to die.
