'Theatre of Dreams'
Today, we visited Manchester United football ground. It is so impressive and full of such history. Here, in this pic you can see the Stretford End, so called as it is named after the area of Manchester at that end. The lights you see on the pitch are used to make the grass grow. This pitch is only used by the first team- not for any other purpose either. The grass is in such good condition and everywhere is so clean - as if it has just been built. In fact, it is now 100 years old - or at least part of it is - the old tunnel - the rest of it was bombed in the war, so is now about 60 years old.
In the top left hand corner you can see the tunnel down where the teams appear.
Ryan Giggs, my son's favourite, wears the number 11 shirt and there is a photo of him in the team's private bar holding his number 11 shirt and the cup for the 11th time of winning the premier league trophy. I took a photo of my son standing alongside this.
In 1958 eight team players were killed in a plane accident. This was very sad as they were such a fantastic team even then and such a young team also. Several of them playing for their country too. Back then all of the team were English.
