Common blue - but not so common!
My first blip photo was a male common blue with his wings closed, but this a male with his wings open showing his full fantastic glory! There are three male common blues in the garden as I type, but still no sign of a female! Early days!
I say not so common as butterflies like most insects are in dire straits due to farmers sprays & loss of habitat, so if any of you can leave a small patch in your garden set aside for wildflowers such as greater knapweed, birds foot trefoil & spear thistle you'll be doing the insects a fantastic service! And you'll be getting beautiful sightings such as this!
