The Story Behind The Picture

This picture was painted by one of the members of our Art Group. It reminds me so much of when I was a child and we went to the shops late in the afternoon in the winter. I remember people standing in the light from the shop windows or the street lamps.
I like the way the dog and the cat are eyeing -up the duck.
And what about the duck?
D, the artist worked with a lot of women many moons ago. His family cat had died and he was talking about it with one of the women who had also lost a pet but who now had a pet Duck which went shopping with her on a lead.
Not long after he was told this story he was called to reception one day only to find the Duck outside. It had somehow got out and followed the lady to work.
We were recently working on paintings of interesting groups. This was D's contribution. It now hangs on my wall and brings a smile each time I pass it.
