Vancouver
Originally we were supposed to have 2 nights in Seattle. But we messed up our timetable. 6 weeks across America staying in a countless number of locations, I suppose we were lucky to have only messed up our schedule once. Seattle looked nice from the brief 11 hours we spent in it. We'll be back.
An early morning train took us on the final leg of the USA part of the trip. Out of Seattle north bound towards Vancouver. We felt sad our trip was over, happy to have experienced it, relieved to have had no major problems and yet excited for our year ahead in Canada.
We arrived in Vancouver at lunch time. We spent 30 minutes at the train station while the customs officers sorted out our work permits. There wasn't a problem or an issue, I just got the feeling they didn't do this sort of thing often. Most people who come to Canada to live for a year enter through the airport and not at the train station.
A 10 minute cab ride took us into the heart of downtown Vancouver where we will live for the first month. We found somewhere before we left the UK, somewhere we can call home while we find jobs and somewhere more permanent to stay.
Our first month dwellings are a little over budget, but worth every penny. A 2 minute walk from this view, mountains, sea, trees, planes and boats, it's going to be tough for me, real tough...
I hope you continue to join us on this journey. I'm sure there'll be highs and lows, but hopefully mostly highs.
