Plague House

This is the old Plague House, built in 1520, about 100 yards outside of the City Walls. Here people suspected to have the Plague were put, if they popped their clogs the bodies were taken to a pit, and burned. The small window, to the right of the door, now bricked up, was where food was left for the unfortunates inside. Today it is rented as a Holiday Cottage. The building next door, rather aptly, is today a Doctors Surgery !!
