An Unexpected Night in Chicago

Some sleeper car snafu delayed our train into Chicago by nearly 5 hours, so my mom and I both missed our planned connections (along with many others on our train). When we discovered that Amtrak was planning to put my mom on a bus at 9pm that would race to try to catch her train in Indianapolis around 3am (and, if unsuccessful, would carry her all the way to her destination, making for something like 14 hours on a bus), my mom nixed that idea and persuaded Amtrak to put her up in a hotel for the night. I did the same, and thus we ended up in the Crowne Plaza just a few blocks from Union Station in Chicago.

From the balcony of our hotel room, we took many pictures of the skyline. My picture here is slightly blurry (I really need to travel with a tripod), but you still get the idea. The Willis (formerly Sears) tower is a dominating spectacle. Is it just me, or do the lightning rods on Chicago's towers make them look slightly sinister?
