A Bloke's Shed
Well, it's my Grandparents' Shed actually.
Back in the mid 1940s, my maternal Grandparents lived here along with my Mother and her sister whilst they built the Home that I currently reside.
I've tidied the Shed up considerably over the past few months, so it was near only as half organised as it appears. My Grandparents' 'bedroom' was to the back of the shed, my Mother and her sister to the front. Off to the right was Kitchen, Wood Stove, seating area and where they took Baths. It's made of concrete blocks, built like Fort Knox, full of stuff!
Later on my Grandfather (who was an Engineer of exacting fussiness) used the Shed to house his many Tools and his rickety Caravan. Not much has changed in terms of stuff and on the walls many of my Grandfather's notes and scribblings (mainly of imperial measurements) can still be seen. I've sort of set it now as Poor Man's Photo Studio, where I have done some 'still life' (for lack of a better phrase) photos that I have posted at Blipfoto. It's a favourite place I like to 'escape'. I've go a radio and a TV set up there now and of course the mandatory rocking chair. It looks cheap - it is - but I have some photographic fun here as well as a quiet place to read. It's super cool on a Hot day, well at least for a day until the concrete blocks heat up.
I took this photo on wonky legs. I'd just come back from the Doctor where I unexpectedly had a large cyst removed from the side of my stomach. I should have dealt with this months ago, but typical bloke, just put up with it until it went feral the other week and got a tad nasty. Apart from an annoying headache I don't feel too bad but I was a bit surprised when the Doc admonished me for leaving it so long - I think he used words like 'Stupid bastard', 'Needs head read', usual sort of stuff to explain me. So, I'll be taking a day or two off Blipfoto. I'm not supposed to walk, lift, or bend for a week. No way, maybe a day or two but not a week. I have a long walk planned for Saturday and the weather forecast at this stage looks delicious, so I'm keen to plod.
Then again, my forced staying put might let me try some 'still life' stuff in my madcap Shed studio! In my 'delirious' state I may produce something half decent in a photographic sense. Sigh ...
