Reybridge

Reybridge lies about eight miles from my home in Calne. It is a tiny hamlet of stone cottages and farms, named after its ancient bridge, the only crossing point over the Bristol River Avon for many miles until the late 17th Century, when its close neighbour Lacock had one. Lacock is often used as a location in films, including Pride And Prejudice and the Harry Potter films. Reybridge's most famous resident is probably Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
I called to check on the swans and cygnets breeding there, previously blipped, but on this occasion they were absent. The heron was there, but kept his distance and I didn't get a usable picture of him. It is a very beautiful section of the river, and this view of it was taken from the bridge, looking northwards towards Chippenham.
