Happy
Another grey morning and another cooked breakfast :)
People who know me know that I love graveyards, this is something I cannot explain but I have always liked them even as a child. They never seemed like spooky weird places but rather calm and serene spaces.
This is Warriston Cemetery and I had to visit as I had passed nearby yesterday. After circling a bit we finally found the entrance and I was instantly in love with the place. As in many older graveyards the council have taken the step of laying flat any gravestones which may topple, it is seen as a destructive process and whilst I would rather see the stones erect as intented the sad fact is that when laid flat as opposed to crumbling or falling down they are probably more likely to remain intact. Sadly there will always be people who will deface and destroy places like this but it's not a new phenomenon.
Anyway where was I.... Oh yes so wandering round and reading the names and stories was a great way to spend an afternoon. Wonderful names. Something I had never done, but my host suggested was looking up some of the names, and it was amazing to read more about the people, their lives and their stories. Right up my street! Another reason to love my iPhone.
Suddently the sky seemed much darker and the heavens opened, real big splodgey rain. Cleverly neither of us had come out with a jacket or a brolly or anything practical like that! There are lots of lovely big old trees which gave us a degree of shelter but eventually we headed out and headed back to the flat (luckily the rain had by then lessened slightly).
How to top off a day like that? well wine, roast dinner and top gear of course.
