Field of Tobacco
As I've promised, here is a field with tobacco growing in Hadley, Mass., not too far up the road from the barn with tobacco hanging that I blipped yesterday, with a bit of commentary on its commercial significance.
Corn has become much the most common crop in our area, in the Pioneer Valley along the Connecticut River, but tobacco is still seen here and there. The red buildings at the far left have dimensions characteristic of tobacco barns, though I don't know whether they are still used as such.
