Prague - Day 1

Up and out slightly earlier this morning, for a flight to Prague, to visit our office there and to go on a course. It was roasting as I landed but had a nice cool air-conditioned ride in a yellow skoda from the airport to the Embassy only to then melt in the unbearably warm office! They told me that a/c was due to be fitted in their annex of the old, thick-walled building the following week and I seriously wondered how they were able to actually concentrate on work in such conditions. A nice cosy office in the winter, but totally hideous come the summer. Anyway - it was good to see my colleagues, having last visited in February. I did what I had to do and had a lovely Thai lunch with them in a nice funky cafe-restaurant a couple of tram stops away. It was a tiring afternoon in the office and as I dragged my little case up the cobbled hill to the hotel, I couldn't resist a glass of iced-home-made ginger beer in a cute little cafe that had some fans whizzing around on the ceiling! Fast-forward three hours - after I zonked out on my bed as soon as I got to the hotel, I was on the metro across town for a bite to eat in a place with a nice courtyard, where I sat and did my Polish homework.

This is the metro station!
