I Do......
I Do......two of my happiest words spoken. Two words spoken to the love of my life, for all of my friends and family to hear. Words of commitment and promise. Words of love and admiration. Saying "I Do" is something that I took very seriously eight years ago. They are words that I will continue to treasure each and every day of my life. I found a soulmate. And eight years later, I still believe that to be true.
On the day of our wedding, we were full of promise and excitement of knowing that would be spending our lives together. We got married outdoors with the lake as our backdrop, the ceremony centered in the middle with our favorite people circled around us. Our pastor delivered a powerful message and as he concluded, a hawk circled high above us in the sky. Two friends sang a tear jerking love song and everywhere I looked, I could see the people who had impacted me the most in my life thus far. My husband had a sparkle in his eye and I knew that that moment, that place, and that time was completely meant to be. The day will forever be engrained into my heart and my soul. And double wake boarding away from the reception together was an experience that shocked the crowd and solidified our adventurous life together. We held hands as we glided past our friends and family standing along the shore line. They erupted into a roar of laughter and cheer. It was a defining moment for us. A special moment that the two of us will always share.
Eight years later and my feelings are even stronger. We have continued to learn about each other, understand the hard moments, while celebrating the happy ones. We have brought two beautiful babies into this world who mean more to us than anything in this entire world. They are our everything. Everything that we could have ever dreamt of and so much more. Building a family has been our greatest accomplishment. Creating a foundation of trust and unconditional love for our children is something that we will strive towards every single day.
Today was more than an anniversary, it was a day to look at one another in the eyes and express how fortunate and blessed we are right now. At this time. At this moment. We feel united. We see how our love has grown and we will continue to do everything we can to keep our love alive. To keep it exciting. To keep it strong and meaningful. Successful marriages have built a foundation for us on both sides of our families. Our parents have modeled commitment well. Our grandparents have shown us that long lasting marriages are ones to be cherished.
So on this very important day in my life, I can't even begin to thank my husband enough for the journey that we began so many years ago. The love that he has given me every single day and the unique friendship that we have been able to share. I love you my honey bunny......and I know that you know that.
