Winkle Pickers
Our friend and neighbour Christine has 'come home' after working away and popped in to see us, so she decided that she'd join us on a wander down to the beach.
She was telling us that she used to collect winkles as a way of raising extra cash and felt that she might do it again.
So after a few telephone calls we've discovered that the shellfish buyers now pay around £80.00 or 117 euro for 50 kilo bag, but it seems that the price may rise by around 50% next month. So we've decided that we'll give it a go and have a week at the winkles, or a couple of tides as the jargon goes, to see if we can make a bob or two for Christmas.
