Martinitoren & church
Today I shot some really nice photos by night. The above is one of three nice photos. The other two (one of the `Gardepoort' near the Martini church and one of the tower of the Jozef church) can be found here.
What you see in this photo is a statue in front of the Martini church and on the top right you can see the Martini tower. This one has been blipped before, e.g. by ~kdoes.
I just searched on the internet to find who the statue if of, and found the following:
- SINT-JORIS EN DE DRAAK - (Sint-Joris and the dragon)
"This bronze statue at the Martini churchyard is a war memorial for the victims of World War II. It was made for the province of Groningen in 1959 by Ludwig Oswald Wenkebach. The statue symbolises the victory of good over evil."
