A Fignet of my Imagination

Our fig tree seems to be producing a bumper crop this year. Many figs fall off the vine, of course; and birds unfortunately think that the remaining ripening fruit is for them.

It may be interesting to compare this summer 'photo with my BlipFoto for 14 Feb 2010, when the tree was undergoing orthodendral treatment and the fence some orthophraxis with blue polypropylene rope presented by @ViolaMaths.

The "Fig Net" is an attempt to keep the birds off. I'm not sure if it'll be effective, since many of the figs are pushed up against the mesh and are easily accessible. Meanwhile, the netting squashes all the greenery, and may be bad for it.

The "amusement" from this photograph is meant to reside in the method of securing the net to itself and to the branches. Here, clothes pegs are shown to have many uses in the garden. Luckily, we have a large supply, obtained some time ago at Poundland or the like. Can't remember how much they cost ;=)
