Pedicure

Danny is a retired show horse, stabled at the University of Arizona Farm in Tucson.

Courtney is a Farrier, on contract to UA to care for hooves of the horses. She makes house calls.

The horses get a pedicure about every two weeks to keep their hooves in good health. They don't wear shoes. Courtney tells me that the horses do better when 'barefoot'.

UA Farm is a great place for photos. There is a paddock for mares and their colts, another for pregnant mares, and one for yearlings. When I was there this afternoon most of the horses were grazing, but they were also friendly and would come over to the fence for a nibble of hay.

Universities are exciting places and all the people seem so congenial. I know because I grew up in a University environment as a Faculty Kid.
