Sugar and spice and everything nice

This is my niece J, it was her first birthday today. She is the sweetest, cutest little girl ever. I can say that because I don't a have a daughter or any other nieces and well, it is actually true. We had burgers and hot dogs on the grill (meat and veggie), various delicious cold salads (potato, pasta and broccoli slaw) fresh fruit and cold beers for the big people.
Then came the cupcakes, oh the cupcakes were divine. Just divine. My cousin S made them. White cupcakes, with the taste and texture of a combination of shortbread and angel food cake combined and frosting of fresh whipped cream with pureed fresh strawberries, piped on the top. Music to your mouth.
J was eating frosting in handfuls and throwing her head back with pleasure. I have one of these cupcakes in my fridge, don't be too jealous, now.
I am now winding down after a cold shower (it was super hot today, but it's August in Texas, so you just deal with it), on the couch with T, watching Open Season 2. It's on Cartoon Network tonight.
T just asked me if I wanted to smell his finger, this has to be a boy thing and can't be good. It's also a sign he's getting jealous of the laptop, so bye for now :)
