Le Basket Ball
Today was the Pep Rally and Midnight Magic, which commemorates the first day that college basketball teams are allowed to start practicing. So it was supposed to be an "'80s Night" when really the only thing that was '80s was five songs the pep band played and...that's about it. Me and a couple of other folks (like those lamebrain girls who talked and looked around DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM) dressed up somewhat for today so I was really disappointed. There was popcorn, cotton candy, a dunking booth, karaoke, a mini-basketball hoop game, and KISS FM. The first two ran out pretty fast.
First they had like, a dancing competition, and the guy who won was really hilarious. Then they had the team introductions (which were like this: "Ashley Parker!" "Whoo..." Ha ha. We have spirit, yes we do.
Then they did a practice game and then the guys did a slam dunk competition which was lame because only about three of the seven or so who played actually got the ball in the net. What a way to start the year!
Oh, and I got really cruddy seats. But we did get a free t-shirt and another glow stick along with an Adidas sweat band for answering the question "What is Adidas's slogan?" when it was written on the ad next to us. Maryann's question was "What basketball players does Adidas sponsor?" when the answer was on the poster right in front of her. Ha ha ha! This event didn't even last until midnight so it was more of a "Pre-Midnight Magic." Or "Madness." Whatever it's called.
I had to cover this event for yearbook, but the conditions were so hard, I don't think I got very good ones. And me and Maryann walked back to our dorm taking pictures in the rain. Good times.
