Cheap and very cheerful

Still in Carcassonne - made another visit to the Cite in the morning and then went down into the Ville Basse (the newer town) in the afternoon for a trip on the Canal de Midi. This was good but as we live near a three rise and five rise lock on the Leeds- Liverpool canal it was hard to get excited!

In the evening we could not resist the lure of La Cite again and whilst having a drink and taking in the ambience in this little square the cafe owner was so charming we stayed there to eat. No gourmand food here and simple house bottled wine but it was delicious and even better about a third the price of the previous night's meal.

Our last night in France - off to the Basque country.
