As the hubub is starting to die down and the dust is settling on the past few weeks turmoil I am making an effort to get out and take some pictures again. Not too great this evening but it is a start. As well opening up Stitcher for the first time in ages I am also trying out 'The Gimp' for photo editing in addition to last night's Lightroom trial.

I am finding that the biggest drawback to The Gimp is one of an unfamiliar interface, which is to be expected. Many of the processes I am used to in Photoshop are still there just under different names, with different icons and in different menus. The only impediment so far is an inability to switch to any bit depth deeper than 8 (though it may be there somewhere), and adjustments only appearing to be available as aprocess to a layer rather than as an adjustment layer. It is certainly serviceable though I wouldn't want to be making anything like an interface or web mock-up at short notice.
