Fisherking

Don't let the Sun go down on me.

A strange day today.

As usual I met up with my fishing buddies but today we had a sad duty to perform. We had to go to a funeral, no-one we know or had ever met, the wife of one of the guys who acts as a water baillif for the club.

The service was short, not religious and we sat at the back as unobtrusive as possible. After the service we lined up with everyone else to shake Henry's hand and offer our condolences. He smiled and shared fond memories with family and friends but when he got to the four of us, he burst into tears!

I think one or two of us shed a tear too, but none of us could understand why he should be that affected by our presence. Grief, I suppose, takes people in different ways.

Tonight we had 12 kids at coaching and the contrast of the happy, excited faces, I think cheered us all.

Then I saw the Sun begin to set, and thought about another day turning , another life gone, but some where a new life starting and so I took the shot. No-one ribbed me for it tonight.
