Wow!
My grandmother passed away early last week. Although, it's hard to let go, her passing was a relief to all of us, as her health was waning.
So, I traveled down and met up with family that I haven't seen since my twin sister's first wedding. Being the first set of twins born in a huge family brings a certain notoriety. Coupled with the fact that evidently we were not the sweet, agreeable, obedient children that I seem remember being growing up, KD and I heard a great deal of "Oh look, (spouse's name here), it's the twins!" or "Oh, I remember when you two..." or in conversations behind our backs: "Now, how can you tell them apart?" or "Which one is the one in Alaska?". !!!!!!!
Not really wanting to revisit this horror from the past, KD and I found a very quiet little room off the main entry hall. This room must be used for keeping small children occupied during funerals, because it was stocked with a variety of movies, toys and books. The walls were painted by hand, which caught my eye. I can hardly write my name and have it look or be legible. I'm always amazed by the artistry and talent people have in regards to visual arts. Here are more of that great room. (Sorry about the other photos...I can't figure out how to delete them from picassa. )
Hovering in the quiet room was a disadvantage later in the evening, though, Aunt C cornered me, after Mom told her that I play piano. I ended up accompanying all the cousins (59 of us!) in a song that we sang as children the next morning at the funeral. The services were very nice and touching.
