Blue-green algae isn't here

Being born and living my first 18 years close to the seaside, swimming has always been part of my summers. The first time I ever heard of blue-green algae must have been some ten years ago. Nowadays it's something we expect and, unfortunately, get every summer at some parts of the Baltic Sea. Because it's toxicity, no swimming is recommended where it's seen or measured/analyzed. At the moment it affects all the seaside beaches of Espoo, our current hometown, and several lakes as well.

At a small village South-West of Finland where my Mum still lives, the water has been clear and nice all summer. Open water swimmimg is such a great fun, and I was happy I could let my kids go and play in the water again today.
