ACCIDENTAL TOURISTS & ACCIDENTAL PAPARAZZO
Before Blip, I used to listen to music on my iPod during my commute. Or I'd read one of the free papers. I'd mostly be thinking about what I needed to do at work during the day in the mornings, and the evening commute I'd be thinking about my dinner!
Since blip, that has all changed.
This morning, I thought about varying my route to the office, thinking that I would cross the Thames on Vauxhall Bridge so that I could blip the new bikes in the Mayor's cycles for hire scheme. But the first bus was my usual bus, so I duly jumped on and did the usual journey. But all the while, I was thinking about what would make a good blip, and several ideas came to me as I passed the Imperial War Museum. But I didn't want to get off the bus, so I stored those ideas for another day.
However, as the number 12 bus (Dulwich to Oxford Circus) stopped outside St Thomas' Hospital on Westminster Bridge, a flash of bright orange caught my eye - and I saw a group of monks peering over the bridge. I quickly got off the bus, as I thought - "That would be a BRILLIANT blip!" I crossed the road to approach them, but they had crossed the bridge and I then had to cross again. But the traffic lights stalled my progress! I then had to run to catch up with them, but they were on the move, taking photos of the Palace of Westminster. I used my zoom to blip them as they walked along the embankment. I felt a bit uneasy taking their photo without their consent though.
