Spur-wing Plovers
These chaps look like they're dressed for a Masonic meeting ?? I took a number of shots of the group, squabbling was common - I couldnt decide which I liked but chose this one as (if you look carefully ) the spurs on the wings are evident.
Not sure if masons en route to a meeting squabble like these guys ? Plovers started coming to NZ from OZ around 1886 and started breeding here in the 1940's. They have taken a good hold on pasture,swamps,and the Estuary.
