wash away the summer days

place: side of Laughing Bean Cafe, 2695 Hastings St E (CAN)
mood: carefree

The blue of the bicycle rim and pink and yellow of a child's chalk drawing forms a triad of the primary blue, red, and yellow. However, these primaries are clearly not at 100% hue; all have been desaturated to create a more softer or 'quiet' combination that results in less engaging and eye-catching colour contrast.

Yet, the combination is still interesting to look at, especially with the opposites in textures and surfaces happening here. The smooth and shiny surface of metal is in contrast with the bumpy raised surface of the concrete, creating blotchy pastel pinks and yellows that look rough and sketchy in comparison to the polished cool blue of the bike.

This photograph reminds me of childhood and a long-gone era of innocence and endless days of simply being a carefree kid, enjoying the few remaining days of an indian summer.
