Every coin and note tells a story....
The Kenyan shillings: a fantastic night in Tsavo with my mum and my sister; sitting around a fire, talking and drinking, someone else making dinner. I smile every single time I think of that holiday.
US dollars, nickels and dimes: Finding myself alone in New York, unable to check into my hotel as it was booked by work and my colleagues were on a flight 4 hours later. Late on a snowy February afternoon, the city turned into a monochrome vision with black streets, white piles of snow several feet deep piled on the pavements. Steam from the subway turning the city into a scene from a thirties gangster movie - and I'm there on my own, just loving it.
Moroccan Dirham: sleeping in the Sahara under the stars, walking into Djemaa el Fna square listening to the drums and the stall holders shouts. Amazing atmosphere.... The calls from the mosques, trying to find a hotel with a bar... Oh, and THAT drive over the mountains :-)
Euros from France - driving to Auchan with my parents and children, stopping to picnic at the fort. Wine and bread and family. What more could you ask for?
