runs in the family

ever since i was little, there has always been one uniting characteristic i noticed holding together my father and his siblings. an affinity for rocks. i recall family vacations spent wandering beaches... slowly progressing along the shore, faces focused downward, stopping frequently to closer examine a unique rock. the walk back, weighed down with all the rocks they just couldn't manage to leave behind.

so together with some of my father's family yesterday evening, focus undoubtedly turned to his rock collection, proudly displayed on the deck. despite once scoffing at their obsession, i myself have grown to love rocks (like a right of passage into the family). so i couldn't help but take some photos as it is quite a spectacular collection. i especially love this lake superior agate.
