Magma reflected in clouds Volcano National Park
The crater of Halemaumau sits inside Kilauea Caldera, which is at the summit of Kilauea volcano, home to Volcano National Park. The area had been closed to visitors only days earlier when it first began venting gas, so there were no injuries.
Magma is rising closer to the surface and large amounts of steam cloud the area along with other gases. At night the red glow of the magma reflects in the clouds.
