Livorno
Livorno!
Never thought I'd get a photo I thought was genuinely beautiful from the port of Livorno but here it is.
This was taken from our balcony at a quarter past seven in the morning.
I actually really like the industrial scene that stretches into the distance mixed with the bright rising sun bouncing off the port water.
We decided to go to Florence but make our own way there (instead of paying $99 each for a transit from the ship). So we took a shuttle bus into main Livorno, trekked to the station and took the train, through Pisa, to my favourite city Florence!
Once we got to Florence we took the Bus up Michelangelo Piazza which took forever, much longer than I remember. The square has an awesome view over the city.
Took a peek at the brilliant campsite I had been at just over a year before. Was great to be back.
Then walked across the bridge with the fancy jewellery shops.
A storm had been brewing though and suddenly it tipped it down. There was loud thunder and lightning. But we battled on to the old Town Hall and the Duomo.
Still raining I lead my family back towards the train station, insisting we stop at the amazing pizza place I had been to a few times with Corky, Sev, Josh, Calvin and Lyd the year before.
It didn't disappoint and it was nice to have my parents paying. So i ordered a beer and a fantasia pizza. Incredible.
Then we took the train back through Tuscany to Livorno, which was annoyingly sunny.
