Thistles
It is a 25 minute walk to my nearest Tesco, probably about as far from near a town centre as it is possible to be from one, given their ubiquity. I braved the walk in the rain, though, to pick up a copy of a paper I wouldn't normally touch, because it contained a DVD of G.I. Blues.
Not only that, but I returned by a lengthy circuitous route, searching for a blip, and these splendid thistles growing in North Street are what I chose.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Elvis Presley - Wooden Heart (recorded 28 April 1960, Radio Recorders, Hollywood CA)
From the film G.I. Blues (though thankfully not the soundtrack recording which featured puppets and a children's chorus) this tune, adapted from a Swabian folk melody, was released as a number one hit single in the UK in 1961 but was not a single in the US until 1964, when it was a B-side. A version of the song in German by Marlene Dietrich had appeared on the B-side of Lili Marlene in 1959.
