You Cut Loose and have fun in the Sun

Heat.....

Summer has returned to the West Coast and it chose a good day to do it.

Today was the SVA Beach Volleyball Tournament hosted by Troon Volleyball Club. Tooli was there with her mate L, and we appeared down about 12 to give her some nourishment! We stayed to watch her next match, and laughed as we watched the girls flopping around with no energy, play one point back and forward as they continually shot wide on service.

Then a group of very, very dark young men appeared, concentration suddenly mustered, and the game became quite vocal! Two of the young chaps came back and asked if they could play. To the Coach's credit he instantly comandeered the girls and gathered them into a team of six, while the two young guys shouted back some of their friends.

The Girls gathered and with their loudest voices huddled and shouted "SCOTLAND". The Young men looked at them and huddled and broke into Tribal singing, getting louder and louder, kind of like a Maori Haka. Ha ha - The high spirits suddenly flattened!

The game got going, and it was quite evenly matched, but played to three sets, with the girls winning in the end! The unexpected arrival of such colour** on Troon Beach gathered quite a crowd and the Ice Cream Van decided to take advantage and move location!

The Boys came from Zambia, from an Aids Orphanage, and visit Scotland twice yearly to raise awareness and funds, by singing and dancing and performing on the drums in Churches around Scotland. They are sponsored by a Charity called M.A.L.I and the orphanage is called Mthunzi.

The game really took it out of the girls! But they posed happily at the end of the match and then got back to their tournament! I was so glad I was just a spectator... I just wouldn't have had the energy!

**(Troon is Predominantly a Blue-Rinse Town, with very pale blue Scots - and a very tiny minority of any other race)
