Agave
Most of the time I prefer to photograph man-made structures, but this morning I wasn't happy with any of my building shots - no excuse, because the light and shadows were wonderful, just a lack of inspiration perhaps. But these huge agave plants look almost built to me, so I played about with crops of this shot to try to create an abstract of light and shade. I love the way the spiky leaves cast their spiky shadows on to the others and the way each individual leaf bears the imprint of the one it was next to as it developed.
