johnathan, johnathan........
ok so i was just going to call this "roller tray" but then i kept thinking about "rollerball", the james caan original version. ok...right, so any of you who know the film will know the chant....and now on with todays blip.
i've been trying to come up with a decent intro to this for the last ten minutes to no avail. so we shall have to make do with this. i keep being distracted by the drumming of the rain on top of the gazeebo. i'm sitting in the garden and the only light to be seen is on the laptop in front of me. anyone else like the sound of the rain as it bounces of say the car roof? an old tin roof is best or even a plastic one, either way you get the idea. well i love it, i find it quite calming, especially if you are quite cosy while you listen.
this is not todays gripe however, that is reserved for the stress that our children put us through. lexie had another fall today. i say another as on sunday she fell on the stairs. this is not as bad as it sounds as it was only from the last step, she did however use her face to break the fall. nothing more than a bit of a bump to show for it and was up running around 10 mins later. still it doesn't help you get over hearing that sickening thump and then the scream. i would however, always prefer to hear the scream than have the thump and then silence.
now back to today, only two days later and we have yet another heart stopping moment. we had her cousin round playing today, so the two of them have been running around like gazelles on coke (and i don't mean the fizzy stuff.) as we stay next door to mrs mcd's folks this gives them quite a bit of ground to play in. we have a gate in the back garden fence which allows them to run between both houses with ease. anyway lexie nips into the house to pick up yet another toy and goes barrelling out of the back door only to trip and try and use her nose as some sort of crumple zone. i was directly above her painting in the bathroom and when i heard that thud i thought there is no way we are not heading to the emegency ward. i had never been so relieved to hear that scream. the weird thing is that somehow she has escaped alomost unscathed yet again (if you don't count the mad boxers like swelling on her nose.) lucky white heather today, i sweat it. not a chipped tooth and the tiniest spot of blood. (whoever was looking out for her today, thank you)
now i realise that this really was not a major accident but you can't help but worry. not constantly of course. that would drive you nuts, but no-one likes to see their child in any kind of pain. ok so there are some people out there who that last sentence doesn't apply to, but for most i think it does, doesn't it? anyway a couple of accidents with the possibility of nasty injury, which have turned out ok....thankfully.
tell you what though, it ain't doing my heart any good.
night folks
