History
I have passed this old barn many, many times in Flowerdale when walking Dimairt, and it dawned today that I had never blipped it. It is amazing that this barn, which I think may once have been a house with a barn attached, has been around since 1730. I also didn't realise how beautiful the different colours of the stone were until I downloaded my photos.
There are so few buildings round here of this age - most of the old buildings were destroyed during the clearances and during "improvements" of the 20th. century.
Over the doorway at the gable-end are the initials of 2 people, and have been told that this was the tradition to celebrate a marriage.
I will blip this another time, and hopefully by then I will have found out more about the history of this lovely building.
