all makes sense

After taking the picture of the blue door yesterday, I found myself paying more attention to the small buildings and doors we pass by everyday on our walk.

There are two elements that always repeat themselves. Decaying wood, because it would cost too much to replace it. The people who live here are probably too busy building other people's homes. And the posters, some ripped and faded to a point where it's impossible to know why it was ever placed there. Others with desaturated faces of politicians, dressed in suits and ties, and you wonder how they ever expected to connect with the people who walk past their images every day.

With this picture, I considered cropping it to bring out certain elements, to balance the composition. But today, the asymmetry makes sense. The wood and nails and twine make sense. The carved stone, the darkness, even that hint of a plant, it all makes sense.
