VARIABLE OYSTER-CATCHER

The variable Oyster-catcher (Haematopus Unicolour) has two distinct colour phases - Black and then pied (black and white) its a bit bigger than the SouthIsland Pied Oyster-catcher and can be confused with the latter.
Here it is in the black phase. It was a rubbish day today misty and rainy hence the highkey background. I had another great shag pic - but for the Engineers sake had a change with this one - shame we cant do two in a day - never mind, a change is as good as a holiday ( as they say ??) enjoy
