Calycanthus floridus

This shrub is maturing nicely, this is the first year of really good sized fruit.
I have just read that it contains a poison, calycanthine, similar to strychnine.
This is the only survivor of three plants bought from a specialist nursery.

It is known as Carolina Allspice.
