A sunset....
... at last.
It seems to have been an age since I saw a decent sunset. Tonight was the night.
Dimairt and I went out to enjoy the sight - at least, for a wee while till the midges got us!
Dimairt had his teeth cleaned today at the vet's, and is still groggy from the anaesthetic. He also had an exam from the vet re. his arthritis, and is now on a stronger medicine. I loved the fact that the vet, Cathy, said that it was important that dogs should enjoy what they want to do, and if we can help them to do that, then we should. In other words, we should not stop dogs from doing what they want - in Dimairt's case, running and jumping - but rather make it easier for them.
I totally agree.
I also enjoyed my drive around the countryside today, as I had about 5 hours to kill waiting for the go-ahead to collect the boy. I enjoyed a wee visit to Cromarty and Rosemarkie, and visited an almost-ruin of a church, which I want to blip another day. It is such a shame to see lovely buildings die. Then I came home, and watched a "Grand Designs" programme, showing one family's determination to restore and live in a castle in Yorkshire. Kevin McCloud (stupid spelling....) called their effort "heroic", and it moved me. I realised that anyone who takes on authorities (including Historic Authorities) and wins through, is indeed heroic.
I feel that the case of Castle Tioram is another struggle which must go on until the authorities see reason..... Just because the owner would like to create some private accommodation in it, would seem to be the block to his plans of restoring this wonderful castle - most of which would be open to the public. It would seem that it is important to preserve it as a ruin.
Am I alone in thinking that this is madness? OK - so maybe I don't know all the facts about this, and am prepared to be corrected by Historic Scotland People out there - any of you Blippers?
