I love our old house (it's about 170 years old) but there is just one drawback that whenever you start a job it will never be straightforward. When we had the kitchen done, the walls and floors were not straight so you shouldn't look at it from floor level! Not a problem unless you have imbibed too much alcohol! Sometimes the surprises are good ones. When we took a false wall out of a bedroom we found a victorian fireplace behind it!

Those of you following the journal will know that we started stripping the wallpaper from the living room this week to re-decorate. We have wallpapered it twice in the past to cover the problems with the old plaster but this time we want to paint. Neighbours Jonathan and Kirsty arrived this evening to sort out the plaster -and had done most of it before I returned from a walk and curry with pal Chris! Brilliant job!

Jonathan kindly agreed to be blipped at the start of the job, thankyou Jonathan!
